Behaviour Intervention Plan (BIP)

A formal, individualized document outlining proactive and reactive strategies to address challenging behaviour.

A BIP acts as the clinical blueprint for managing and changing behaviour. Developed following a Functional Behaviour Assessment (FBA), it details:

  • Operational definitions of target behaviours
  • Hypothesized functions
  • Antecedent strategies
  • Replacement skills to teach
  • Consequence strategies

A successful BIP reads clearly and gives actionable instructions. It serves as the primary daily guide for staff, parents, and teachers working directly with the learner.
