While frequently used interchangeably with a Behaviour Intervention Plan (BIP), a Behaviour Support Plan often emphasizes broader contextual variables. It focuses heavily on improving the individual's overall quality of life, altering their environment, and building functional life skills.

A BSP rests on positive behavioural supports and proactive systems to ensure the individual has the environmental scaffolding they need.
