Direct Assessment

Direct assessment involves watching the individual in their natural environment and objectively recording data as behaviours occur. ABC data and frequency counts are common examples.

Unlike indirect assessment, direct observation relies on facts rather than memory. You use it to verify hypotheses generated from interviews and establish an accurate baseline of the learner's performance.
