Frequency
The simple count of how many times a specific behaviour occurs.
Frequency is the total number of times a behaviour happens during an observation period. While simple to calculate, frequency only works well when observation periods are the exact same length. A raw count across inconsistent timeframes can easily mislead you.
In practice, you usually convert frequency into rate by dividing it by the time observed. For behaviours that happen rarely or observations that are strictly fixed, a simple frequency count offers a direct measurement.
