Rate

The number of times a behaviour occurs within a specific time period (e.g., responses per minute).

Rate combines a frequency count with a measure of time. You use it to compare data across observation periods of different lengths. Knowing a behaviour happened 10 times tells you very little unless you know it happened 10 times per minute.

Rate forms the foundation of precision teaching and the Standard Celeration Chart. It provides an accurate picture of proficiency and fluency because fluent skills happen accurately and quickly.
