Bounce

The day-to-day variability or scatter in a behaviour's performance rate.

Bounce refers to the variability of a data path on the Standard Celeration Chart. It shows how much a behaviour fluctuates from one observation to the next. A tight bounce suggests stable, predictable performance. A wide bounce indicates erratic or inconsistent behaviour.

Observing bounce helps you determine if an intervention produces steady results. Wide bounce often signals uncontrolled environmental variables or a lack of fluency with the target skill. You typically need to stabilize bounce before aiming for rapid celeration.
